FAO MEDIAFIRE IF THEY COME SNIFFING AROUND THESE PAGES...

Don't delete anything.
I've removed all the links to 'unofficial' downloads, and left up 100% GENUINE FREE-TO-DISTRIBUTE RELEASES...

I'm not adding any more to this blog, this is now a reference archive. All the descriptions have remained for people to find new music from, and all the links remaining are for legal downloads that the bands have given permission for, or are my own releases.

Cheers, TKoS blog.

Inspired by the mighty sky...

So, it's been a little while since I kept the good stream of posts going on here, still got a bit of a backlog (apologies to the bands waiting that I said would be going on here, you still will). Had a few weeks concentrating on other things...
Diascorium recording, Sloth Hammer live recording session, sorting my external harddrives out a bit, tagging things properly, being a bit more discerning with all the items in my music folders, as well as completing collections and finding all manner of awesome new things that will no doubt end up on here at some stage. Also I started a new project which is a classical music outlet, going by the name of 'Inspired by the mighty sky', I'll post up some pieces soon on here. It's something I've wanted to do for many years, and Guitar Pro gives me the opportunity to 'score' out some classical style ramblings.

I also had 'bad face syndrome', ie, toothache / time at the dental hospital... Teeth out, root canal, fillings.. I just wish they'd whip the lot out and give me false teeth. Surely that's the next evolutionary step.

Anyway, so, my excuses are done now. Will be a good slew of more things up on here soon.

Behold, the rebirth of our blog.

To an extent anyway...

Have decided it was a bit rubbish putting in all the work, getting this place pretty full, and busy, and getting links on lots of other blogs, and then just letting it die, so, after some ludicrously high voltage electrical shots to the heart, The Knowledge Of Sound blogspot have had some life revived back into it, and there will be, albeit sporadic, a commencement of posting on here.

Too much good stuff to not get spread around.

So,
hello again.

It's been a long long time... TKoS in a coma...

I know, I know, it's (sorta) serious.

Well, unfortunately I don't think I'm going to have the time to commit to this blog on a continuing, 'full-time' scale. I still have hundreds of things I'd like to post up, but just getting around to it is getting harder and harder, and less of a priority. It was awesome while it lasted.

That's not to say it's fully dead.
Just in a semi-permanent vegetative state, with severe brain damage and two missing limbs.

Or, to put it in plain nonsense rather than veiled insanity, there'll be the odd post, the odd upload, the odd gig promotion, or weblink to something you should check out, but nothing more.

For those NEW to the pages though, please look back through the hundreds of posts and downloads, there's still masses of awesome, essential listening housed in here, so don't feel like you'll be going away empty handed, there are still tons of things to clamber at in the 'Bargain (FREE) Bins'.

Get involved, and still continue to tell others who like to find new music.

Thanks to all who have supported, word spread and looked at the pages so far, who knows, maybe one day, an unexpected cure will arrive and TKoS will make a full recovery, grow new limbs and run around like a spring chicken once more.

Goodbye for a little while...

so, this will be the last post for a little while, as I will be on holiday for a while in Turkey, so I shall leave you with this..

It's been a busy few days on here...

...and now I'm tired.

I don't think there'll be any more posts for a few days, despite there being tons more lined up to post, so, if you happen across these pages over the week, thank you for having a look, and so, now, you have time to look back throughout the last three months worth of posting, there's absolutely tons of goodies, profiles, gigs, videos to watch, downloads to have (legal ones that bands are spreading around too, if you're not into the 'other' kind of download that knocks about on t'internets!)

Our facebook group has started off well, so if you use FB, please add us (link is on the right hand side), come say hello, and any word spreading about this blog, as ever, is well appreciated.

I'll leave you with a few things that entertain me heartily...

(P.S. In light of the above cartoon... I know I start a lot of sentences in lower case, and speak in my accent, a wrong I shall right over the coming weeks. i.e. this blog shall be proof read and sorted out 'good 'n' propa like!' Ta ta folks).

Precursor to August and beyond...

Right, so just to update folks who have been tuning in to The Knowledge Of Sound, we're going to start expanding on what we do with this blog now.

Since the death of www.rawnervepromotions.co.uk - first of all the entire rest of site, with thousands (literally) of reviews, news, interviews, profiles and more, and then recently the final heartbeat of Raw Nerve has been and gone in the guise of the end of the forum as well, which had ran for nearly 10 years in total, this leaves a few promoters, labels and bands with one less place to advertise their events and releases. Well, you now have the opportunity to post them on this site. Just email me your flyer, and a web link or two, and I'll get them posted up on here. Whether folks send me stuff or not, I'll still be trying to find for posting up a load of choice stuff put on or played by a load of choice people, so don't complain if your stuff doesn't get shown on here.

August will be another busy month for content here, as we'll be posting up news, gigs and various other things as well as the hundred or so albums I currently have uploading into Mediafire. I shall be including as well, a few more 'local' 'underground' style bands who are hiking their wares out for free on the internet, getting back to the initial roots idea of what Lovely Time's incarnation of the blog was all about. One of the reasons for posting up some more 'known' stuff, get the word around about the blog, is to, then, in turn, get more folks looking at this place, and hopefully they'll check out the smaller bands and they'll get to more ears. I understand and appreciate that blogs that post up music that is still available on CD is a bit of a slap to the music markets, but also, it's embracing the times we live in right now, and is, undeniably, still a medium for still promoting the bands that I personally think folks should be listening to. As with all blogs, if you like the music, buy the CD. Having personally been in bands half my life, yeah it's a shame if someone opts to only download your recording rather than buying it, but I'd rather 1000 people get to hear the album somehow than 1 person buy it and the rest never even know the band exists, and I'm pretty sure a vast majority of folks would feel the same if they really break it down like that. Anyone who doesn't, and sees their release on this blog, then please message me and it will be taken down.

That's the plan anyway, and in the last few weeks, it seems to be working as this place has been getting a lot busier, so, hopefully we can extend on that and get this place thoroughly buzzing with traffic. Me being a stat freak, I'll probably end up posting the site traffic on the page for all to see!

Anyway,
I'll shut up now, because I'm sure you're not interested in this and would rather have music, and see flyers.

ramble - so, things are starting to take off a bit...

...I'm happy to say, The Knowledge Of Sound's hit counter can prove that too, starting to get a few hundred a week looking in, so cheers to everyone who has a look, posts it on their blog, spreads it on their facebook.. there'll be some more special things coming during August.

book - day one promise by paul priest

i did a book.
it hasn't got a story.
it's got a lot of words and sentences in it.

'The subject matter will probably dance around in front of you. One minute directed towards things in my own life, my thoughts, my head, the next to something completely made up, train of thought works, psychological, intense. One moment introspective, one moment solitary, one moment surreal, one moment prophetic. I speak in metaphors at most, the rest I just speak in words that I like the sound of. It's kind of up to you to make your own sense of what this all means, put it all into some kind of context within your own life, and maybe try and solve the puzzles of how it all fits in with my life as well.'

July is here, let's celebrate with tons of awesome music!

So, the first few weeks of TKoS being online has gone well, got a good response, plenty of folk downloading and having a look, let's keep that going, I got a good feeling about July for this place... Already lined up this evening we have about another 20 uploads, and then there's another 30-odd uploads to sort through as well...

It would be awesome if any of you reading this can spread the link http://www.theknowledgeofsound.blogspot.com around, on your forums, blogs and facebook statuses, myspace bulletins, twitter things or wherever else you may roam, let's get the statistics climbing :-)

Thanks, and on we go...

Things are now taking shape around here...

Okay, so, last night, I re-posted, but properly rather than simply in one big post, the mega post of goodness part two from the lovely time blog, including all the covers and a bit more of a ramble about each of the posts. I feel better about that, giving each one of the awesome recordings more space, hopefully more people will get them and love them.

A load of other awesome blogs have been linked to at the side, they're just a good solid selection of blogs that I personally use (mostly that use mediafire), so get emptying them.

All that's needed now is a few folk to help spread the word of this blog around the internet, and a few contributors that are into EVERYTHING, that have a full appreciation of everything musical, (except maybe opera, that's just shit, operatic vocals ruin amazing classical music!), (oh, and country and western, that can fuck off too), but, yeah, generally, everything from folk, shoegaze, ambient, electronic, right through to death, grind, black, thrash, slam, core, as long as it has that something a little extra special then we're good to go. Also, anyone who wants to post up cool articles, news blips, interviews and things like that, so long as it's all relative, then it's all good.

If you're interested, or if you want to let us know something about a post, maybe a spelling / typo (I am a grammar freak, and usually get things right, but sometimes slips can occur), let me know. I want this to be a pleasurable, enlightening, interesting, fresh read as well as being crammed full of goodies.

So, on with the goodies, got a load more stuff lined up to post, to play catch up with the closing down of lovely time blogspot, and also to start throwing some new things into the melting pot.

Now, pleeeeeease re-post www.theknowledgeofsound.blogspot.com on your facebooks, myspaces, twitters (shitters! but hey, if you like it, then fair enough), other blogs, news feeds and forums, any help is much appreciated.

First day of the new blog...

...has gone rather well I think.

Okay, so, not all the posts have been transported over. It IS possible to just simply import the old posts, but wanted to set things out slightly different as well as update some text and tags and whatnot, so, copy and paste it is. The rest should be over in the next few days.

All the 'Monster Posts of Goodness' will be replaced with individual posts for each of the bands, and then, once all that is done, then there will be more regular updates, more music for you to wet yourself over, controversial statements aplenty, and hopefully, over time, contributors shall be fully involved, adding more of their own music tastes, interviews, general news, and whatever takes our fancy really, so, get in touch, get involved, get downloading and let us know what you think.

THE KNOWLEDGE OF SOUND... The whys and the whatfors.

Born from the (still smouldering) ashes of Lovely Time blog and the Raw Nerve website, 'THE KNOWLEDGE OF SOUND' blog will bring you a vast cross section of music, mostly centering on extreme metal, but covering all bases of music.

For those of you who have followed lovelytimepromotions.blogspot.com or seen it, (10,000 hits nearly, so a few of you may), then a lot of the early posts on here will be reposts from there, but, since this replaces and continues things in a much bigger fashion, I think it's only fair we can do that. More exposure for the bands posted on there, and gets us off to a good start for people backtracking further down into the future.

This blog is now alive, looking for contributors, looking for help in promoting, any word spreading on your myspaces, facebooks, blogs, websites, and anywhere else is most appreciated. Please use the following banner from the link below, that would be great :-)
