shellac - at action park

it's shellac! and this is their best one (care to discuss?!), unsettling grooves, weird riffs, intelligent, stark and uncompromising stuff. very difficult to tag, so don't shout at me because it's not totally on the ball.

mars volta - de-loused in the comatorium

in my opinion, their best album. amazing progressive sounds.

king crimson - the power to believe

latest album from king crimson, we neeeed more of this!! unfortunately, after reading about the state of king crimson it looks unlikely there'll be any more.

Brilliant, epic, prog, ambient stuff. Tarantula Hawk = mint!

Camel - Mirage

Totally class prog, only got into Camel in the last couple of years, lots of good stuff, this is their best for me, but also check out Moonmadness and Snow Goose next if you like this.

beatles - Abbey Road

The band that got me into music, with their Yellow Submarine film, this is my favourite album of theirs. I saw Yellow Submarine when I was 4 and loved it for the music as well as the animation, and that was the start of things to come for me.

Still an absolute classic. Every song is perfect.

Cloudkicker, 4 album discography

http://www.myspace.com/cloudkicker

Absolutely fantastic atmospheric, riffy, ambient, instrumental type gubbins that just nails it all pretty much spot on.

They're (well, HE!) is giving the music away for free, so thought I'd get it reposted and hopefully help spread the word.

It's free, Cloudkicker say you can have it for free as well, so get these amazing releases, guilt free. 'Portmanteau' especially has made today that bit more bearable, although having said that 'The Discovery', for being the heaviest of the four is continuing today's recovery nicely.

Artwork and notes included in each zip file below..

cloudkicker - Portmanteau

cloudkicker - The Discovery

cloudkicker - The Map is Not the Territory

Wiht - Self Titled CD

42 minutes of absolutely marvellous post-something or other, stoner, prog, sludge, grooves, atmospheres that will put to shame pretty much all of the 'cool' bands that you listen to that are more interested in having nice artwork that bothering to write good riffs!

Luckily, the artwork and logo is lush too.
3 tracks, cracking stuff.

If you're into any of the above styles, then get this!

Tell them you love them on their Myspace...

Hiram - If Up Were Along

http://www.myspace.com/hyraam

This project has taken 7 years to come into the album releasing fruition state of now, and it shows. The professionalism and control on this record is at the forefront of the Hiram sound.

Hiram's member's other band outings include Twin Zero, Heroes For Sale and Bodybug, and guest members include Heroes For Sale, Produkt, Nailstorm and Suffer As One.

One comment made about South Yorkshire's Hiram is that it's like 'King Crimson playing through Crowbar's gear', well, I can see that for sure. The big bits are really big. You can hear plenty of Neurosis in there, from all stages of their progression. For those of you who like your Isis, Cult of Luna, Bossk, Neurosis and the like, then you have got to give this a listen. Both parts. Don't go getting one without the other. That's just not allowed!
